As January 1st arrives on the Gregorian calendar, we will be in the year 2019. On the Hebraic calendar we will continue in the year 5779. Now, I have already blogged about the Year Ayin Tet (click here to read the blog). As we are continuing in this year of Ayin Tet, I believe that YHVH knew which calendar we would be using and would use it for His good. Even though this is not the Biblical Calendar, I did find some interesting revelations.
When looking at scripture and the Hebrew meanings of words, most people refer to the Strongs Concordance. The 2019th word in Strongs is the Hebrew word ‘hafakfak’ הפכפך. It means crooked and perverted. It is only used in one verse.
Proverbs 21:8 The way of man is froward and strange; but as for the pure, his work is right.
Actually this Hebrew word ‘hafakfak’ הפכפך comes from the root ‘haphak’ הפך. As I have mentioned before in my blogs on the Hebrew letters, a word will maintain the root meaning. Its root is ‘haphak’ הפך. It means to turn, overthrow, to change, transform, to be perverse, to be turned over and to be changed. This root is actually found in 92 verses in the Tanak with all of its cognates. It is used 94 times. The very first instance of the word sets the tone for the meaning.
Genesis 3:24 So he drove the man out, and he placed at the east of the garden of ‘Eden the k’ruvim and a flaming sword which turned in every direction to guard the way to the tree of life.
By this first meaning, we can see that this year is one of a crooked and perverse nation. As I look around at what is happening in the world , it seems as if it is getting darker and darker.
Oftentimes when we say the year, we say “20” “19”. So I began to look at the numbers this way. 20 is the number of expectancy and the Hebrew letter kaf כ . In ancient Hebrew, kaf כ was the form of an open-palmed hand. It shows you are expecting something. Kaf means palm, hand, and vessel. The kaf כ is the first letter of words like keter/crown, kos/cup and kippah/ head covering.
In light of events about the announcement by President Trump regarding Jerusalem as Israel’s capital, this verse comes to mind.
Zechariah 12:2 “I will make Yerushalayim a cup that will stagger the surrounding peoples. Even Y’hudah will be caught up in the siege against Yerushalayim.
A cup is a vessel that holds or contains something.
Now, the second part of the year is 19. 19 is the value of Chavah/Eve, the bride. It is also the value of Iyov/Job. We know that from Iyov’s life as an example, there will be extreme testing. The bride will be tested in this year.
Job 23:10 Yet he knows the way I take; when he has tested me, I will come out like gold.
There is also another link with the number 19. It is the value of the Hebrew word chabat חבט /to beat out, thresh.
Isaiah 27:12 On that day YHVH will beat out the grain between the Euphrates River and the Vadi of Egypt; and you will be gathered, one by one, people of Isra’el!
There is a threshing of the people and nations and it deals with Yerushalayim. Yet, the good news is that in the threshing, YHVH is gathering the people of Yisrael one by one.
There is even more meaning tied to the number 19. The 19th letter of the Hebrew Aleph-bet is kuf ק .
The letter kuf originally meant the back of the head. It is the symbol of both the set apart- kedushah קדושה, and the profane, the klipah קליפה, the peel, cover, or husk which represents the negativities in the world. Kuf has to do with the removing the husk of the to reveal the what lies within.
In Hebrew, the kuf is the only letter which extends below the line of the other letters, indicating descent into the lower world, but also the ability to ascend from there.
Psalm 139:8 If I climb up to heaven, you are there; if I lie down in Sh’ol, you are there.
In this corrupt and perverse world, no one can escape YHVH. He will finish His work.
Another interesting meaning of kuf is that it means eye of a needle. Here is a picture of an eye of the needle. It is actually a small door inside a larger door.
Matthew 19:24 Furthermore, I tell you that it is easier for a camel to pass through a needle’s eye than for a rich man to enter the Kingdom of God.”
It is about humbleness. Only the humble will enter through the eye of the needle.
2019 is a year of each person peeling back their outer husk to reveal what really lies underneath. We need to examine ourselves. Are we humble?
2 Corinthians 13:5 Examine yourselves to see whether you are living the life of trust. Test yourselves. Don’t you realize that Yeshua the Messiah is in you?- unless you fail to pass the test.
By looking at each individual number, we can find even more meanings. 2 is the Hebrew letter beit which means house. 1 is the Hebrew letter aleph which represents the Master or Elohim. 9 is the Hebrew letter tet. I’ve previously discussed the dual meaning of tet. Tet is a basket that is concealing a hidden good. In addition, tet is also a picture of the serpent or snake.
Now for 0. Even though the Hebrew word zero is not used in scripture, there are many places where the concept of zero is found. There is a great blog that gives more information on The Biblical Meaning of the Number Zero. Zero means nothing, empty or without. The very first mention can be found in Genesis 1:2.
Genesis 1:2 The earth was unformed and void, darkness was on the face of the deep, and the Spirit of God hovered over the surface of the water.
Based on that first mention, we can see that the number zero requires the intervention of the hand of Elohim.
Now with that in mind, let’s put the meanings all together. In the house, the intervention of the master Elohim will display the works of the hidden good or the serpent.
1 Peter 4:17 For the time has come for the judgment to begin. It begins with the household of God; and if it starts with us, what will the outcome be for those who are disobeying God’s Good News?-
This is the year to align ourselves with YHVH’s commands for there will be a greater chasm between what is righteous and unrighteous. We want to come out of the threshing as a harvest for YHVH.
Jeremiah 29:11 For I know what plans I have in mind for you,’ says YHVH,’plans for well-being, not for bad things; so that you can have hope and a future.
In this time of the great divide, there will be adversities within our own household.
Matthew 10:34 “Don’t suppose that I have come to bring peace to the Land. It is not peace I have come to bring, but a sword! 35 For I have come to set 36 a man against his father, a daughter against her mother, a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law, so that a man’s enemies will be the members of his own household.
This is a crucial time. We need to stand firm on what we believe and not compromise. This is a pivotal year for some relationships. We will need to solidify in unity with some or to dissolve and break apart. In the midst of threshing and trials, look forward to the plans that YHVH has in store for you!
